For CA Unified Infrastructure Management
An event is a significant activity on a system or application which requires user attention. Microsoft Windows logs all such events and makes them available to the user through the Event Viewer tool. This tool helps system administrators identify and troubleshoot hardware or software issues on a system.
System administrators can use the NT Event Log Monitor (ntevl) probe to view event log information for multiple systems in Unified Service Manager (USM).
The probe allows you to:
- Identify what systems you want to monitor.
- Specify what events will generate alarms.
- Analyze trends in system and application performance when you view historical event data through USM.
- Store past events for times when probe is deactivated until the probe is reactivated. When you enable this configuration, alarms are generated when the probe is reactivated for any monitored events that occurred in the past.
Probe v4.0 supports the following non-English locales:
- B-Portuguese
- Chinese (traditional and simplified)
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Spanish
