Once CA Nimsoft Monitor Snap is installed, you can use the Discovery Wizard to locate devices on your network.
When you log in to the Unified Management Portal (UMP) as administrator for the first time, the Discovery Wizard is automatically displayed. The Discovery Wizard leads you through the process of configuring a scan of your network.
First you create authentication profiles that the discovery agent will use to access systems and gather information about them. Then you create network ranges to define which parts of your network to scan. Finally, you launch discovery, or schedule it to run in the future. You can also schedule reoccurring discovery, so that new devices added to your network are found.
When discovery runs, the Inventory view in Unified Service Manager (USM) updates dynamically to display discovered systems. You can click on a system to view its properties, and you can assign monitoring on up to 30 systems.
